Swane, Canada
The moment we arrived at Sheedy’s we wanted to extend our stay. We loved everything about the place — from the service, to the friendliness, to the gorgeous room, to the amazing food both at breakfast and dinner, to its location — it is listed as a four star but in our opinion is much more than deserving of a five-star — especially compared to a five-star place where we stayed later on our trip and which really should be demoted.
Sheedy’s is pure charm and its owner and manager, Martina, is just so gracious and oozes kindness. Our room was upstairs and she had one of her adorable children and a delightful staff member help us with our luggage.
The room was one of those places with which you fall in love the moment you walk in and don’t want to leave — bright, comfortable, large and so welcoming. The bathroom was also large and with all the necessary amenities.
The manor house is really well designed – with well thought out little touches, yet without being so “designed” that you are afraid to touch anything. This place is comfortable and truly welcoming.
In all our experiences ( save one) in Ireland, we found the people to be a total joy to meet and talk with. Martina and her staff were high on the list of wonderful Irish hosts.
We had read that Martina’s husband was a gourmet chef and that dining at Sheedy’s was part of the experience — even though there are some other restaurants in the small and beautiful little town of Lisdoonvarna. And despite the fact that Sheedy’s has a tremendous restaurant, the owners are very complimentary of the other places in town.
Well, we opted eat dinner at Sheedy’s and of course, has our breakfast there too as breakfast was included ( dinner not included) in the room price. Both meals were totally out of this world. Dinner — you sort of expect a great meal from a gourmet chef — and it was and then some! But breakfast — you expect a great breakfast and we had many, many such on this trip. However, this breakfast was exceptional — from the innovative and superb culinary delights to every little detail — splendid!
Sheedy’s is very close to the Clffs of Moher and the Burren. So the location is really great.
All in all – perhaps our favourite spot on this particular trip to Ireland — I hope that you get a 5 Star rating — you really deserve it!
